Ford Explorer 8.8 Watts Link Adapter Kit
Need a watts link for your ford explorer 8.8 swap? Cortex makes a fantastic watts link kit that is track oriented. Unfortunately the mustangs 8.8 pinion is on the chassis centerline whereas the explorer & truck rear ends are not centered. This adapter plate bolts directly to the Cortex diff cover and centers the watts link pivot point. This does 2 things, it allows the watts link to work correctly because the links are equal length, and centers the roll axis in the chassis. The rear roll center for a watts link setup is the hinge point, so if it is offset your rear roll center & roll axis are biased to one side.
Our kit includes:
1x Adapter Plate made of 7075 T-6 Aerospace grade aluminum
10x Spacers
10x Cover bolts
You will need to reach out to Cortex for a builders kit which comes with weld on frame mounts. It is not listed on their site. Here is the mustang bolt in version of the kit I run currently. Cortex
Curious as to why we only sell an adapter kit and not a full watts setup? Cortex makes a fantastic kit that has years of development & I have no desire to create that myself. I’d rather be racing than designing.
